Martin Faulkner Associates
(MFA) is an Information Technology consultancy company
specializing in Contactless Smartcard based
Automated Fare Collections Systems.
Although Smartcard technology has been with
us for some time, it was struggling to find
a 'killer application' until the Hong Kong
Octopus Card was created in 1996. Despite
the apparent success of Hong Kong and Singapore,
which followed soon after, it was not until
recently that the basic cost of the card has
fallen such that transit systems with as few
as 250,000 transactions/day can seriously
consider the Contactless Smartcard, and consequent
Settlement systems to support it, as a viable
option for their fare collection.
MFA's experience stretches back to those exciting
times in Hong Kong, and is utilizing knowledge
and understanding it gained to assist its
clients worldwide. |
